Sanhe, a county-level city in Langfang, Hebei province, was ordered to enter a "static" state on Wednesday afternoon after a resident tested positive for COVID-19.

Under static conditions, all residents in the city, which is a near neighbor of Beijing, are required to stay home. Stores and other businesses are suspended, according to a notice from the city's office for COVID-19 prevention and control on Wednesday afternoon.

The notice said the lockdown, which started at 2 pm on Wednesday, will last three days. Neither traffic nor people are permitted to enter or leave the city except for supply purposes.

The notice also advised people who commute between the city and Beijing to work from home.

Located about 30 kilometers east of downtown Beijing, Sanhe has a great number of people who work in the capital and commute daily.
