In addition to identity, heritage, diasporic culture, and labor issues, there seem to be more themes enveloped in The Endless Garment that many viewers find hard to comprehend. "Though this is a research project, it creates different levels of engagement. Everyone coming here is bound to find something they can relate to," Wu said.

The two chapters of the physical show will culminate in an upcoming issue of Viscose, an indie journal for fashion criticism founded by Ugelvig in 2021.

Planning to tour the project globally, Wu said it will pose a new question every time it arrives at a different place, precisely because it will be facing a new geopolitical context.

"The project would accumulate more as it travels. It would be so meaningful at the end," she said.
