Shanghai reports new daily case count

Shanghai reported five new COVID-19 confirmed cases and 21 asymptomatic cases on Thursday.

All five confirmed cases were close contacts of previously reported cases and were found during quarantine according to Wu Jinglei, director of the Municipal Health Commission.

Among the asymptomatic cases, 20 were found in the quarantine process while only one was found in the testing process of people with risk of exposure to COVID-19.

As of 5 pm Thursday, a total of 4,361 individuals were identified as close contacts of the reported cases and 6,944 people as secondary contacts — all have been tested and except for 203 tests still awaiting results, all were negative.
