Shenzhen kicks off Greater Bay Area Spartan race

More than 3,000 participants took part in the Shenzhen leg of the Spartan race on Saturday, with a half marathon (21 kilometers with 34 obstacles) debuting in the city.

The race was held in OCT Farm, a recreation resort managed by Shenzhen's Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company in the northern part of the city. The farm is aiming to be the first ecological culture and tourism resort next to an urban city of international level in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Racing in a tranquil rural area, participants experienced a brand-new exploration compared to previous races in mountains or forests. Organizers are aiming to find new backgrounds.

Hurricane Heat 24 Hour, a group mission of the Spartan Race will land in Tibet autonomous region's Nyingchi city and another two races will be held in Guangzhou and Zhuhai respectively in December.

As many as 84 events have seen almost 500,000 participants in China during the five years since 2016, when the competition was first introduced to China.
