Wolfsburg appoint Florian Kohfeldt as new head coach

BERLIN - Florian Kohfeldt has been appointed head coach at Wolfsburg with immediate effect, the Bundesliga side confirmed on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old former Werder Bremen boss has agreed a deal with Wolfsburg until June 2023.
"In the past few hours, we have had many talks and selected possible candidates. We are happy that we were able to reach an agreement with Florian Kohfeldt and are convinced that he can identify with our path and that we will get back on the road to success with him," said Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer.
Kohfeldt coached Bremen between 2017 and 2021, but was sacked on May 16 after his side fell into the relegation play-off spot.
"I didn't have to think twice about accepting this challenge. It is an exciting job that I am really looking forward to. I am going to use this short time to have a lot of conversations and to get a first overview. There is a lot of quality and dynamism in this team," said Kohfeldt.
Wolfsburg currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga and take on fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen this weekend.
