Currently Lu's crew is responsible for 86 power lines, extending over 2,700 kilometers, supplying power to 690,000 citizens in Turpan.
Lu said the high temperatures and extreme heat in Turpan's summer is the major challenge. Known as the Land of Fire, Turpan is baking in summer, with temperatures hitting 40C.
"I could feel the burning temperature under my feet, and I felt sick one day," she recalled. "But I had to stick in there until we found the problems."
To enhance efficiency, inspectors have to separate while walking and checking powerlines.
"Mom always worried about me running in the wild alone," she said. "I only tell her good news when we do video calls to reassure her."
