Heilongjiang security official drowns
The body of Gao Deyi, executive deputy director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Public Security Department, was found Saturday in the Songhua River.
Gao Deyi, executive deputy director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Public Security Department, was found drowned in a section of the Songhua River in Harbin's Hulan district, the provincial capital city, on Saturday.
A statement issued by the Hulan Public Security Bureau on Saturday said authorities received a report that Gao was missing on Aug 18 and then carried out a search.
The police found a corpse clad in swimming trunks in the river on Saturday morning. After an on-site investigation and examination, they found no scars on the body and said they believe the victim drowned. They also confirmed the dead man is Gao.
Gao, 56, a Heilongjiang native, started to work in the public security sector in 1986. He became the executive deputy head of the Heilongjiang Provincial Public Security Department in August 2020.
