Online summer camp for Chinese studies opens
Tongji University launched the "Chinese Bridge" online summer camp for foreign students on Tuesday.
The online camp, which has attracted over 100 overseas students from Asia, Africa and Europe, will last for nine days until August 28. It is hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and organized by the International School of Tongji University.
Chen Yili, deputy dean of the school, welcomed the participants online and said that the camp can help them learn practical Chinese language, improve mutual learning between cultures and view China from different perspectives.
The participants will have access to Chinese lessons, academic lectures and cultural experiences through livestreaming or recorded courses. They will also get to visit the campus of Tongji University and go sightseeing in Shanghai through virtual means.
The faculties will deliver lectures related to Chinese culture and cross-cultural communication. Knowledge including Chinese traditional clothing, cuisine and gardening landscape will also be shared.
