President Xi Jinping reiterated on Friday China's pledges to uphold peace, development and win-win cooperation, and deepen friendship and bolster exchanges with people from different nations to promote the development of a new type of international relations.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during a visit to a thematic exhibition in Beijing of diplomatic gifts received by Party and State leaders.

He noted that diplomatic gifts, with their special historical value and rich humanistic connotations, embody the profound friendship between the Chinese people and people of different nations and bear witness to the glorious achievements of the diplomatic cause of the People's Republic of China.

The CPC is a party that strives for the happiness of the Chinese people and the cause of human progress, he said.

He highlighted the need to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, further the high-quality development of the Belt and Road and provide new opportunities for the world with China's new development.

It is important to use the exhibition to spur the whole Party, nation and people of all ethnic groups to work toward the second centenary goal of comprehensively building a strong modern socialist nation and the Chinese dream of the nation's great rejuvenation, he said.

The exhibition, which houses over 670 gifts, more than 40 photos and close to 100 documents or new media materials, recounts the major diplomatic events since the founding of the People's Republic of China and displays the glorious course and achievements of China's diplomatic cause under the Party's leadership.
