Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.49 percent, at 3,477.55 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.89 percent higher at 14,117.80 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 4.14 percent to close at 2,898.73 points Monday.
