A member of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee proposed to build a national culture park of the Maritime Silk Road in Southeast China's Quanzhou city, Fujian province.

The Maritime Silk Road is a peaceful passage for maritime culture and trade, said Luo Shaming, who is also a member of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League.

Quanzhou is the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road and a pilot zone of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, he said, adding that the park will be built like a card reflecting the culture of Maritime Silk Road, a platform to maintain the cultural bond across the Taiwan Straits, and a space for the creative transformation of traditional Chinese culture.

The construction of the park should take the Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties as the time axis, and take Quanzhou and other cities along the Maritime Silk Road as the spatial nodes, according to Luo. A corridor for protecting the cultural heritage along the Maritime Silk Road will also be built, he said.

The park will provide a place for people to enjoy the beauty of the scene as well as understanding the culture, Luo added.
