Shanghai's municipal advisory body, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee, opened its annual session on Jan 23.

Dong Yunhu, chairman of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai committee, presented a work report of the committee in the past year and a plan for the future.

Around 1,300 CPPCC members in Shanghai have fought at the front line in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, and donated 500 million yuan in cash and 30 million yuan worth of medical equipment and medicine, Dong said.

During the city's resumption of production, the CPPCC members offered 67,000 suggestions, and many of them, such as expanding the use of health code in more places, were adopted by the government, he said.

In areas of urban governance, the committee has launched inspections focusing on 20 issues related to people's livelihoods, such as urban renewal, elderly care, food safety and rural area revitalization.
