China dismantles 1,759 syndicates involved in cyber crimes

BEIJING -- Chinese authorities have dismantled 1,759 syndicates involved in organized crimes perpetrated through the internet, such as offering fraudulent loans online, amid a one-year nationwide campaign.
During the crackdown launched in late 2019, police have solved about 32,000 criminal cases, tracked down 17,000 suspects and seized 29.95 billion yuan (around $4.58 billion) of assets linked to the unlawful activities, the Ministry of Public Security told a press conference Thursday.
