New workshop for old building maintenance talent set up in Shanghai

Shanghai's first workshop to cultivate talent in the maintenance and repair of old buildings was unveiled in Xuhui district on Friday.
Enrollment for the workshop will begin next year.
The venue features a practice area, nine working stations for external wall painting and five for roofing and detailing, as well as functional areas such as exhibition halls, training rooms and technician studios.
There is currently high demand for top talent in the repair and maintenance of historical buildings in Shanghai, said Shi Junlun, chairman of the municipal housing construction industry association.
According to the Shanghai housing management bureau, two more training bases for talent in this field will be established in Putuo district and Pudong New Area in the future.
