Palmeiras eye move for ex-Barcelona manager Setien
RIO DE JANEIRO - Former Barcelona boss Quique Setien could assume the vacant manager's position at Palmeiras, according to Brazilian press reports.
Palmeiras have turned their attention to the 62-year-old after failing in their bid to sign fellow Spaniard Miguel Angel Ramirez, the current head coach of Ecuador's Independiente del Valle, sports newspaper Lance reported.
Setien has been out of work since August, when he parted ways with Barcelona following the Catalan team's 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Palmeiras are seeking a replacement for former Real Madrid and Brazil manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who was sacked last week after a poor run of results.
The Sao Paulo side are currently eighth in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A standings, 12 points behind leaders Internacional.
