Shanghai Children's Welfare Foundation officially launched
The Shanghai Children's Welfare Foundation was launched on May 28 in Shanghai Gongyi Xintiandi.
The foundation aims to support public welfare programs for children with special needs, orphans, disabled children and left-behind children in rural areas.
Promoted and supported by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, the foundation was jointly established by various parties, including the Shanghai Children's Home, the Shanghai Huijia Charity Foundation, Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park Co Ltd and Shanghai Minzhong Investment Management Co Ltd.
According to the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, the first batch of funds raised by the foundation amounted to 5.9 million yuan ($820,000).
The first public welfare project of the Shanghai Children's Welfare Foundation was also launched on the same day. The project was jointly funded by the Shanghai Children's Welfare Foundation and the Shanghai United Foundation.
This project, which will provide assistance to about 300 disadvantaged children in society, will begin on June 1 and last for a year, according to the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau.
Personalized care and services such as education assistance, daily care and social integration will be provided to each child based on their circumstances, the bureau said.
