The medicine was recommended in four versions of a treatment plan from the National Health Commission, which noted it as an effective way to treat COVID-19 pneumonia, according to Shijiazhuang Yiling Pharmaceutical Co, the medicine’s maker.
More than 70 million people on the Chinese mainland have used Lianhua Qingwen to combat influenza and the novel coronavirus pneumonia since the outbreak, the company said.
Earlier this month, the company donated 120,000 boxes of Lianhua Qingwen capsules, worth about 1.8 million yuan ($250,000), to Iraq through the Red Cross Society of China, to facilitate that country’s fighting against the virus.
