Rojas brace fires Racing to victory over Aldosivi
MAR DEL PLATA - Paraguay international playmaker Matias Rojas scored twice as Racing Club came from behind to defeat Aldosivi 4-3 in their Argentinian Superliga Cup opener on Sunday.
Federico Andrada and Nazareno Solis struck in the first 12 minutes for the hosts before Rojas pulled a goal back for Racing just after halftime.
Federico Gino restored Aldosivi's two-goal advantage but Rojas netted again in the 65th minute and Ivan Pillud then equalized seven minutes from time.
Carlos Alcaraz netted a dramatic winner for the visitors in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
"It was incredible. We weren't our usual selves in the first few minutes but we never gave in and with that fighting spirit we were able to turn the match around," Racing captain Pillud said after the match.
In other Superliga Cup fixtures on Sunday, Newell's won 2-1 at Central Cordoba, Arsenal Sarandi drew 1-1 at Union Santa Fe and Talleres won 3-0 at Huracan.
