Recovery rate of virus patients in Shanghai reaches 80%
The recovery rate of patients in Shanghai infected with the novel coronavirus has reached 80 percent as of Feb 25, according to the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission.
Seven confirmed cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia were evaluated by an expert group and later discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, including one person who was in critical condition and had to be treated in the hospital for 32 days.
The commission also announced that 34 suspected cases were excluded and that there were no confirmed cases on Feb 24.
The age of patients in Shanghai infected with the virus range from 7 months old to 88 years old. Among these patients, 224 are Shanghai residents while 144 had recently lived in or traveled to Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province.
Presently, 59 patients are in stable condition, three are in critical condition and 261 have been cured and discharged from hospital. In addition, there are currently 64 people who are under medical quarantine and observation. Three people have died after becoming infected with the virus.
