Chongqing-made disposable medical protective clothing enters mass production

The first disposable medical protective clothing made by Chongqing Shangkun Medical Devices Co Ltd successfully rolled off the assembly line on Feb 3 in Fengdu county, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality. The production line now operates around-the-clock, with six workers in each disinfected area striving hard to make more disposable medical protective clothing.
The company, located in Fengdu Industrial Park, is a medical material manufacturer that mainly produces surgical masks. Since Chongqing confirmed its first case of novel coronavirus on Jan 21, however, demand for medical supplies, especially disposable medical protective clothing, has risen sharply.
Under the leadership of the Fengdu government, the company established the Medical Protective Materials and Products Emergency Group on Jan 24, received a production license for medical protective clothing at the end of January and transformed its original surgical mask production line into medical protective clothing. "We spent three days to get the production license, half a day to convert the production line and seven days to successfully produce the first medical protective clothing," said Jin Kun, general manager of Chongqing Shangkun.
Late at night on Feb 3, the first Chongqing-made disposable medical protective clothing successfully rolled off the assembly line. After it passed an inspection, it left the factory.
On Feb 4, 60 qualified workers from nearby towns officially took up their posts and began work. Currently, 152 enthusiastic workers are assigned to the 24-hour-a-day line, producing 1,000 sets of medical protective clothing a day.
