A man in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, became the country's first man detained for restarting production during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, being held for 5 days.

The man, surnamed Yu, ordered three workers to restart work in a textile factory on Saturday, though he was aware of the provincial government's notice to suspend production until midnight on Feb 9.

Local government workers noticed the three workers working in the factory and reported it to police.

Jiangsu reported 33 novel coronavirus cases as of midnight on Feb 4, bringing the total number to 341. The province has traced 6,476 close contacts of the patients and put 5,581 people under medical observation.
