1.87m daily entry, exit trips predicted for Spring Festival holiday
BEIJING - The upcoming Spring Festival holiday will see a daily average of 1.87 million trips made by passengers through China's entry and exit frontier inspection stations, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) said Wednesday.
The figure will be 2 percent more than that for the same period last year, the administration said.
It said the average daily tourist flow at major airports in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu is expected to reach 77,000, 116,000, 56,000 and 22,000, respectively.
It anticipates that Gongbei Port linking the mainland and Macao will see a notable increase with an average of 409,000 inbound and outbound trips each day, up 14 percent from last year.
The tourist flow at the ports connecting the mainland and Hong Kong will slightly decline, said the NIA.
The NIA asked border inspection agencies nationwide to disclose information on passenger flows in a timely manner and ensure safety and order.
The Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on Jan 25 this year.
