CPPCC advisers discuss National Day parade at session

Political advisers shared backstage details of preparations for last year's National Day parade in Beijing during the ongoing session of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee on Saturday.
It was the first time ever that videos were played on the big screens in Tiananmen Square for visual background during the parade, said Yang Bin, an adviser representing the China Communist Youth League, in a series of interviews on the sidelines of the session.
"We selected 310 series of materials from 72,000 minutes of film and 60,000 file photos to produce 39 videos spanning 65 minutes," Yang said.
The videos, sharing the extended meaning of floats, enhanced the atmosphere of the parade. As a database with historical and literature value, the videos reflected 70 years of struggle in the People's Republic of China, Yang said.
During the interviews, Zhang Zhi, an adviser representing the China Democratic National Construction Association, showed two photos of his experience participating in National Day parades.
In the parade to celebrate the 35th anniversary, Zhang was one of the students from Peking University waving the banner "Hello, Xiaoping" along Chang'an Avenue.
Last year, he was also in the march holding flowers to celebrate the 70th anniversary.
"We see from the two photos people in the new era are happier, more confident and open-minded," Zhang said.
"From a student to a political adviser, I witnessed, contributed to and benefited from the country's reform and opening-up. My dream is to once again participate in the 100th anniversary parade to see China realize its dream of national rejuvenation."
