5th Chinese youth volunteer service project competition opens
BEIJING -- The 5th Chinese Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition and Volunteer Service Exchange opened Monday in Dongguan, southern China's Guangdong province, the China Youth Daily reported Tuesday.
The event, jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and other seven authorities, focuses on promoting volunteer culture and the construction of voluntary service system, as well as showcasing outstanding volunteer service projects.
A total of 100 teams from across the country will compete in a youth volunteer service entrepreneurship competition. Around 200 volunteer teams, as well as representatives from universities and provincial authorities, will attend exchange sessions and seminars, according to the newspaper.
More than 700 volunteers, university representatives and guests from all walks of life attended the opening ceremony.
