HONG KONG – The Registration and Electoral Office (REO) of the city has clarified that no "facial recognition system" has been installed at any polling station of the 2019 District Council elections.

The statement came following circulation of rumors online about facial recognition system ahead of Sunday's elections.

"Poll of electors will not be filmed," the REO statement said, terming the online rumor "incorrect".

"The ballot is secret," it said.
