With the 48th WorldSkills Competition less than one week away, Shanghai Pudong International Airport saw a small peak in inbound arrivals of international competitors on Thursday, including those from Germany, Austria, and Iran.

Daniel Meyr, a contestant from Germany, finished his apprenticeship in July. Competing in CNC tuning, the experience will be of much significance to the 19-year-old, as it marks not only his first time in Shanghai, but also his very first flight.

Lucas Rother, also from Germany, will compete in cyber security, saying that his preparation for the WorldSkills started 2023.
