Teachers take the 'classroom' to twins
A primary school in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, has sent half of its teachers to help twin boys diagnosed with cerebral palsy for over a year.
The school, Tongde Bridge Experimental Primary School, has about 100 teachers and more than 40 have visited the boys' home and given lessons, including math, Chinese and music.
The teachers spend a lunch break every week to teach the boys. They also tell stories, use toys to draw their attention and appreciate paintings with them. During class time, the boys are secured in chairs due to body trembling.
The twins were found unable to raise their heads when they were three months old. Their mother, surnamed Zhou, said that her "world suddenly collapsed" when the boys were diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Their elder brother, Xiao Xin, likes math and both boys are showing great interest in music. Instead of saying one or two words a time, they have made progress in speaking and expressing themselves.
The 8-year-old boys are cared for by their mother and four grandparents now. The father is the family's only breadwinner.
School Principal Yang Zhiyong said that psychological counseling will be provided to the boys soon, and students from the school will be invited to the boy's home to spend time with them.
