State Council approves plan for green development of Yangtze River Delta
BEIJING - The State Council on Tuesday approved a plan for building a demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta on ecologically friendly development.
The plan was mapped by the National Development and Reform Commission and will involve the local governments of Shanghai Municipality, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, according to a statement on the government website.
More efforts should be made to integrate the green economy, high-quality life and sustainable growth, and blaze a new path of cross-administrative cooperation and sharing so that ecological progress and economic and social development complement each other, according to the statement.
The State Council also urged the governments of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang to improve the working mechanism and formulate supporting policies to ensure the realization of the plan as scheduled.
Related departments of the State Council should strengthen coordination of the plan and provide active guidance and support for the construction of the demonstration area, according to the statement.
