Shanghai Curators Lab begins recruitment drive
Shanghai Curators Lab (SCL), a curatorial platform for early career curators, has announced that it is currently recruiting.
SCL is a tuition-free program consisting of talks by 20 art professionals, architects, film makers and cultural readers on a variety of subjects. It is hosted by the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts at Shanghai University and the Shanghai International Art City Research Institute in collaboration with the Power Station of Art, the organizer of Shanghai Biennale.
The program, which was first held in 2018, focuses on experimental and critical discussions of the ecology of curatorial practice, and is a rare and extensive participatory program that involves a university, a museum, a biennale and a research institute.
Participating curators will present their artistic projects at the end of the program, and the strongest proposal will be implemented at an art institution in Shanghai the following year.
Applicants interested in participating should submit a self-introduction letter, resume and reasons behind their interest to info@curatorslab.cn by Sept 15. The applications will be vetted by lead professors and representatives of relevant institutions. Only 22 curators under the age of 33 will be selected.
