A China Eastern plane made an emergency landing on Wednesday morning in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, after a portable charger caught fire and triggered its smoke detectors.
According to Nanjing Lukou International Airport, the MU2809 flight from Nanjing to Xiamen took off at 7:06 am and had to return to the airport due.
The plane landed at the airport at 8:24 am.
The airport's security department checked the portable charger that caused the accident and confirmed that it met security demands.
The charger had a capacity of 40.7Wh, while China allows passengers to take chargers with a capacity of less than 100Wh on board, the airport said.
Police are still investigating the accident.
