18,651 suspects captured in crackdowns on illegal private lending

BEIJING - Chinese police have captured 18,651 suspects while solving 18,790 criminal cases of illegal private lending in crackdowns on organized crime and local mafia.
The figures were made public Tuesday at a meeting held by the Ministry of Public Security in Zhengzhou, capital city of central Henan province.
The meeting, held to make further arrangements to combat illegal private lending, laid out targets of future operations, including mobile apps for illegal lending, illegal online lending platforms and illegal debt collection gangs.
The ministry also called for loopholes exposed in the cases to be better reported to industry watchdogs to root out crime.
