5 killed in central China coal mine accident

CHANGSHA - Five people were killed and one injured in a coal mine accident in central China's Hunan province, local authorities said Wednesday.
Six people were trapped when the accident occurred at around 5:10 pm Tuesday in Xinglong Coal Mine in Longtan township, Jiahe county in the city of Chenzhou. They were rescued and sent to local hospital after the accident.
Five people died after treatment failed. The injured is still being treated.
An initial investigation showed that the cause of the accident was a gas pour-out in the mine which left the miners without oxygen.
The local government is dealing with the aftermath of the accident.
