3 workers dead, 2 being rescued at metro tunnel site
Three workers have been confirmed dead and two others were still being rescued by 10 am Tuesday following a collapse at a metro tunnel construction site on Monday night in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province.
According to Qingdao Metro's official Weibo account, the collapse occurred at 5:40 pm Monday at a construction site for the No 4 Metro Line, where five workers were trapped.
By Tuesday morning, rescuers found the bodies of three workers, and the search has continued as of 10 am.
The No 4 line is a transportation artery linking downtown Qingdao from west to east, passing through the European-style Shinan district to the newly rising Laoshan district. It is designed for a total length of 30.7 kilometers with 25 stations including 10 for transit.
