China honors distinguished police officers
BEIJING - Five Chinese police officers and a police station have been awarded the "role model" title by the Ministry of Public Security for their outstanding performance.
Two of them, Ma Jintao and Xiao Junjing, received the title posthumously. Ma was killed in a police raid in an anti-gang campaign last December in the southwestern city of Guiyang. Xiao died of a heart attack in a raid of economic crime suspects last November.
The other three include a fearless de-miner, a dedicated border patroller, and a respected community police officer.
Sharing the title with them are the entire team of a remote police station in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The ministry has been giving the title to distinguished police officers annually since 2016.
