Sierra Leone patient thanks Beijing hospital

A patient from Sierra Leone in West Africa, who received treatment at China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing for 10 days, was discharged on May 14 after his conditions significantly improved, the hospital said.

The patient was admitted on May 5, due to conditions including abdominal swelling and pain caused by peritoneal effusion, with swollen lower limbs and infected skin. The hospital organized a multidisciplinary team of specialists to provide him with professional treatment and care, the hospital said in a statement. It did not reveal the name of the patient.

Before the patient was discharged, the patient and his wife, in their traditional Sierra Leonean costumes, presented the hospital a letter of appreciation. The hospital also organized a consultation for him on May 14 and made a plan for his follow-up treatment. Ernest Mbaima Ndomahina, Sierra Leone ambassador to China, attended the consultation with his assistants.

Ndomahina expressed his appreciation on behalf of the delegation of Sierra Leone, and praised the professionalism, clinical skills and academic strengths of the hospital. The ambassador also spoke highly of the medical quality delivered by China-Japan Friendship Hospital.

Zhou Jun, Party secretary of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, also joined the event. Zhou welcomed the delegation led by the ambassador and said that the hospital would continue to deliver professional medical treatment and comprehensive care to the patient.
