Torrential rain affects flights in Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU -- A total of 210 flights were canceled as of 4 pm Saturday at the Baiyun International Airport in southern China's Guangzhou after torrential rain hit the city.
A further 89 outbound flights at the airport have been delayed, and 36 incoming planes landed at other airports.
A rainstorm hit northern Guangdong province and the Pearl River Delta region at the weekend, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.
The observatory said that severe convection weather is likely to occur over the next three days, calling on authorities to be well-prepared to cope with any emergencies caused by the rainstorm.
