Kunming to organize marathon run in sea of pear flowers

KUNMING - Marathon lovers may have run in many races, but running a marathon in the pear flowers forest will probably be a refreshed experience.
The 2019 pear flowers marathon will kick off in Anning county, Kunming city in Southwest China's Yunnan province on March 9.
"Around 2,000 runners are expected to compete in four different races - the marathon, half-marathon, short distance fun run and parent-child event," said the organizing committee spokesman Jin Feibao on Saturday.
This year's marathon is the second edition of the event. "Hundreds of thousands flowers will begin to put forth their blossoms in March in Anning, so the pear flowers will be blooming all along the course," Jin added.
Anning is famous for economic plants such as edible roses, pears, shallow water lotus root and various vegetables. The pear plantation in the county totaling about 1000 hectares will be in full blossom in March.
