Job fairs held aboard cross-country train
Migrant workers from Sichuan province have taken special trains to their jobs in Guangdong province for the first time, and onboard services — including free tickets and job fairs — will continue through Friday, human resources authorities of Guangdong province said.
The train from Guang'an city in Sichuan will leave Wednesday night and take over 1,800 workers to Guangdong, a province with growing demand for workers after Spring Festival. Of these, 526 have worked in the province's capital of Guangzhou, according to the Guangdong Human Resources and Social Security Department.
A job fair will be first held on the train to help them get better jobs, the department said, adding more than 80 percent of migrant workers who worked in the province in the past year had returned to Guangdong.
Ge Guoxing, vice director of the department, said more events would be held to help companies in Guangdong, an economic powerhouse in South China, better find workers after Spring Festival.
