Cangzhou, a city in the smog-hit Hebei province in North China, has decided to allow citizens to take the bus for free from Nov 15 to March 15 in urban areas, aiming to reduce air pollutants from vehicles.
According to the decision, the city government will pay for the fares and there are no limits on how many times a citizen can take the bus each day.
Hebei surrounds Beijing and usually has frequent smog during winter. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region experienced severe air pollution in early November.
