It is the first time Customs officers seized methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, from a human being, said Zheng.
Customs officers from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport detained a foreigner and seized ice weighing a total of 291 grams on Sept 22.
The man admitted to have swallowed 6 bags of ice to help a foreign drug gang smuggle ice into the mainland before he boarded the plane.
"And it is the first time that ice was investigated when it was being smuggled into Guangdong province, and it is a new trend that ice has begun to be smuggled into the province after years of great efforts made by Guangdong police in the fight against drug production in the past years," Zheng said.
