BEIJING - A breakout of bird flu has been confirmed at a poultry farm in central China's Hunan province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said Tuesday.
Fowl raised at the farm in the county of Fenghuang were found affected with avian influenza H5N6 after 385 of them died in late September, according to a ministry statement.
"The epidemic has been well controlled," the statement said, adding that local authorities had culled more than 1,000 fowl to prevent the disease from spreading.
