Two die in flooding in Shantou

Two men were killed when storms in Shantou, Guangdong province, flooded many streets in the city early on Friday morning.
Shantou's Longhu district government said in a statement released at noon on Friday that rescue teams were sent to the area after residents reported the flooding.
They found two men lying dead on the ground at the intersection of Liuhe Road and Songshan Road, the statement said.
Medical experts said they believed the two men had been electrocuted after the heavy rain caused power lines to fall.
An earlier downpour led to the collapse of an old, four-story house on Shantou's Rongping Road at about 4 pm on Thursday.
No injuries or deaths were reported as residents of the house were not home and there were few pedestrians in the area because of the heavy rain.
City government departments are implementing measures to deal with the disaster and minimize casualties and economic losses.
Meanwhile, in Guangdong's Shenzhen special economic zone, the city's electricity supply bureau denied rumors that a person had died of electric shock in Fuhai Road, Baoan district, and that the district's high-tension cables had leaked electricity on Thursday.
"After a thorough investigation and examination, no one has been killed or injured because of the leakage of electricity in all of Shenzhen, and the city's electricity supply network has never been found to have any leakage of electricity," the bureau said in a statement released on Friday.
