Good Food, Good Music
The world-renowned Jazz club franchise Blue Note has recently unveiled a series of new dishes and cocktails in its Beijing branch, giving music buffs and gourmands something to cheer about this summer. Top of the list is the Thai style crispy fried soft-shell crab that features a sweet and sour twist instead of being just spicy. Other recommended dishes are the sous-vided octopus, spinach risotto, the roasted salmon infused with flavors of miso and sake, and the red wine-braised New Zealand lamb shank. These dishes make for good pairings with the new cocktails which incorporate refreshing herbal elements to help one cool down during the sweltering summer. Be sure to try the Meidaoli, a gin-based cocktail, which features a hint of nostalgia for local drinkers as it utilizes the Chinese snack of plums pickled in sugar, salt, and herbs. Since opening in September 2016, Blue Note Beijing has become one of the top venues for live Jazz in the capital and a reputable dining venue. Founded 35 years ago in New York City, Blue Note also has clubs in Tokyo, Milan and other major cities.
