Top legislator urges NPC Standing Committee members to improve competency via study

BEIJING - Top Chinese legislator Li Zhanshu on Tuesday called on members of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee to improve their work competency through renewed efforts to study.
Li, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, made the remarks when presiding over lectures for members of the 13th NPC Standing Committee, China's top legislature.
Li stressed continuous study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to ensure the basic theory, guideline, policy, and decision of the Communist Party of China Central Committee are fully carried out in the work of the NPC.
Members of the NPC Standing Committee were also asked to take the lead in respecting, studying, observing, safeguarding, and applying the country's Constitution, and continue to update and optimize their knowledge to improve their theoretical level and competence.
Tuesday's lectures focused on China's Constitution, the organization and rules of procedures of the NPC Standing Committee, and the top legislature's legislation and supervisory work.
