12 Chinese institutions in QS world university rankings' Top 100

China has 12 universities within the World's Top 100, only next to the United States and Britain and No.1 in Asia, according to the 14th edition of QS World University Rankings released on Thursday.
The latest edition of the rankings also showed that, of the Chinese universities included in the Top 100, six of them are from the Chinese mainland. Meanwhile, 38 Chinese universities are within the World's Top 500.
Among the institutions in the Chinese mainland, Tsinghua University ranks the highest, at the world's Top 25. Its ranking is higher than UC Berkeley(27th) and University of Tokyo (28th).
In total, China is home to more top-100 institutions than any other Asian nation. It is ahead of Japan (five), South Korea (five) and Singapore (two). In fact, only two nations in the world are home to more elite universities: Britain (16), and the United States (31).
Chinese universities' ability to attract global talents are going from strength to strength, with notable progress in international faculty ratio and international students ratio, according to QS.
QS has been compiling university rankings since 2004, when they published their inaugural QS World University Rankings.
