Top court's spokesman Lin Wenxue holds first press conference
Lin Wenxue, spokesman for the Supreme People's Court, made his first public appearance at a press conference on Tuesday.
He held a regular press conference to inform the media and the public about a legal interpretation issued by the top court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate .
Lin, also deputy head of the top court's publicity department, spent most time of his career in the country's top jurisdictional authority.
One of the trials he presided over when he worked in the top court's environmental resources division early last year attracted wide public attention.
The trial upheld the decision by a provincial court that six companies must pay 160 million yuan ($23 million) to victims affected by the companies' pollution and for restoring the damaged environment.
Lin, who is in his 40s and is a native of Zhejiang province, earned his PhD in Law from Renmin University of China in 2008. He also is the deputy head of the top court's department of political affairs.
