New Jersey teens victorious in table tennis open
Three Chinese-American teenagers from the New Jersey Table Tennis Club captured the junior boys' team championship at the 2016 US Table Tennis Championships this week in Las Vegas.
Ray Huang, Ye Tian and Zirui Zhao are 16-year-olds representing the New Jersey Table Tennis Club (NJTTC) in Westfield, New Jersey.
Huang, a sophomore at the Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, New Jersey, said he hopes his victory will interest more of his friends in the sport so they can share in the fun.
Huang has been playing since he was 10. He and his teammates also won a US championship in May.
In August, Huang finished second in the AAU Junior Olympic boys' singles under-16 competition; second in boys' doubles under 16, and was on the champion under-18 boys' team.
