British museum goes on journey to the East

China: Journey to the East
spans 3,000 years of Chinese history and culture. It explores different through themes of play and performance, technology, belief and festivals, food and drink, and language and writing.In addition to 100 objects from the British Museum - the largest loan of Chinese materials the museum has made in the United Kingdom - the show also offers visitors items from collections from some of its partner museums.
Highlighted objects include a jade bi (a flat jade disc with a circular hole in the center) inscribed with a poem by the Qianlong emperor, a porcelain model theater scene, a roof tile in the form of Guan Yu riding his horse, a porcelain dish showing the Eight Immortals visiting the God of Longevity, models of dishes that use ingredients for a feast for the soul in the afterlife, an incense burner and shadow puppets.
