From November 28 - February 10, 1958, the Sixth Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee of the Party convened in Wuchang. The meeting approved a resolution for several problems at the people's commune. It emphasized that the distinction should be drawn between the collective ownership by the working people and the ownership by the whole people, as well as between socialism and communism. It also stressed the need to continue developing commodity production and exchange and to uphold the principle of distributing income according to work.
