March 12, 1925: Sun Yat-sen dies in Beijing

On March 12, 1925, the forerunner of democratic revolution Sun Yat-sen died in Beijing at the age of 59. His remains were placed in the Temple of Azure Clouds, a Buddhist shrine in the Western Hills in the suburb of Beijing. A mausoleum was built and completed in 1929. On June 1, 1929, Sun's remains were relocated from Beijing and buried in Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing.
